OUR STORY
Since 1982
Our Family heritage and passion for the shooting sports and hunting has been passed down from the generations in the Damarin family. It was no wonder in 1982, our founder John E. Damarin developed the best quality cleaning products made in America. When I was a young boy, I remember traveling with my parents, going to shotgun, rifle, and pistol matches all over the Midwest every weekend. Shooting has always been our family’s hobby, as my Father and Mother shot together in many matches. I was always with them shooting or helping them sell products at the local matches or gun shows. For me shooting and gun cleaning has been a way of life and passion, not a job or task, but truly a way of life. Accuracy only comes with consistency, so quality is important for all aspects of shooting.
My Father started Pro-Shot with the goal of making quality firearm cleaning products that worked faster and easier. Not to mention, American Made right in our hometown of Taylorville, Illinois. This is something that would not be compromised or changed ever, as my Father always believed we could make the best quality products in America. John E. Damarin truly loved his family, country, and shooting. From the early days, my Grandmother was an important part of Pro-Shot. She helped in any way that she could, and taught us many lessons. She is the reason that we pack our orders very organized and neatly. Our customers can tell you that Pro-Shot is the best in the industry. Grandpa would pull customers’ orders, Mother would help in the office and ship orders. I was in charge of helping do whatever was needed, from sweeping the floor to making products with my Father. Even my Uncle helped in the early years with printing. Pro-Shot is truly a story of one family’s American dream turned reality.
As a young child around the fall of 1981, my Father was telling me how our shooting buddy had gotten a plastic patch holder stuck in the bore of his gun during an important match. His friend was cleaning between rounds and the plastic patch holder broke off his barrel. Then he took the firearm home and heated the barrel up over the stove to get the patch holder removed from the bore. That’s when my Father told me “Son, we can make gun cleaning accessories better than that.” From this problem our shooting buddy had, Pro-Shot was born in our small one car garage. Our first product we manufactured was firearm cleaning patches, and I must tell you as a young boy it was a lot of work making them by hand and printing bags ourselves. My Father taught me the importance of quality, value, innovation, and hard work.
We continue to pass down our passion, quality, and excellent service for the shooting sports to the 4th generation. Thank you for your support of Pro-Shot Products, and we hope you enjoy our products as much as our family and dedicated staff enjoy making them for shooters across the globe.
